New Nissan Juke Compact Sports Crossover released in Japan

The new Nissan Juke, which we revealed previously at the New York Auto Show is now scheduled for release in Japan. This Compact Sports Crossover is aimed at being agile and quick, but at the same time having the toughness of a SUV. The term “Juke” is an American Football term an essentially means ‘dodge’ further reinforcing the idea that this car has an emphasis on being quick and nimble.

New Nissan Juke set for popularity

As with seemingly all new cars these days, there was an emphasis put on fuel economy as well as environmental impact. The new Nissan Juke features well in these departments as well, with a 19km/liter fuel consumption and 75% lower emissions than the 2005 standard. Which qualifies the Juke into the environmentally friendly bracket and means that drivers are exempt from the additional tax, assuming there is such a law in your country.

The new Nissan Juke is aimed at larger families who do a lot of driving around and need sufficient space for all the passengers. But still maintains the feeling of driving a quick light car and not a minivan. Coupled with the Jukes aim at being environmentally friendly and light on fuel, it should do well and find it’s place in the market competing against the Audi Q5 and BMW X1.

Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG refreshed

The Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG has somewhat of a different audience and market to the previously featured Nissan Juke. The ML 63 AMG is made as a performance SUV, designed to overcome any surface, has loads of space and yet still provide enough speed to race between the traffic lights. Mercedes-Benz have recently released the updated version of their ML 63 AMG, and the new look is a definite improvement.

Changes improve Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG

So what exactly has been changed? The bonnet now has power domes, and the front lights are darkened bi-xenon. The rear lights have also undergone a change and are now darkened, feature a clear-lens design and LED technology. The look is finished off with a chrome underguard.

While the general look of the Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG is obviously very important, the engine specs are probably more of a drawing card. The power output is 375kW and boasts 510hp at 6800rpm. The ML 63 AMG completes the 0-100km/h in just 5 seconds, which is really impressive for a car this size. The top speed is electronically limited to 250km/h. The ML 63 AMG has a sports suspension as well as a high performance AMG breaking system.

The new Mercedes-Benz ML 63 AMG will be available in July and has a starting price tag of 105 077 Euros.

New car sales keep on improving with impressive May stats for many manufacturers

New car sales throughout the US for many of the major manufacturers are all on the rise and showing strong sales figures. With the global recession now something of a distant memory, the world seems to be getting back into buying new and used cars. Which car manufacturers saw green during the month of May?

Audi cars are always popular, and it’s great to see them having such strong sales. In the US for the month of May, Audi recorded their best ever month of sales. Compared to the previous year there have obviously been massive increases in sales, Audi sales are up this year by 31.4%. The biggest contributers were the Audi Q5, Audi Q7 and Audi A4 which all enjoyed an impressive month of sales.

Mazda cars were not to be outdone with a 35.2% increase in their US sales. The best selling models for Mazda during this period were the Mazda3, the Mazda CX-7 and the Mazda CX-9, which had its best ever month of May.

Toyota cars also squeaked in an increase in month sales compared to 2009. With an overall increase of 6.7% of car sales in the US. Toyota obviously took quite a hit with their recall program to fix defective vehicles, so it was good to see them still doing well.

Volkswagen cars are incredibly popular in South Africa, and their popularity shows no signs of slowing down. They once again dominated the passenger market in South Africa with a 36.3% increase compared to the previous year. Top of the list was the new VW Polo Vivo which sold 2546 units for the month of May. The popularity of the Polo in South Africa has never seemed to slow down. According to Cars.co.za stats, the VW Polo has been the most searched for car for the past few months.
